Gary Russell Poe

After a battle with lung disease, Gary Russell Poe, 70 of Unionville, Indiana passed away peacefully on June 6, 2021. He was born May 14, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Lawrence V. and Norma J. (Smith) Poe. Gary was a Hospitality Manager for the Pelican Restaurant in Florida for many years. While living in Florida, he was also an instructor for a bartending school for several years. He loved to camp, fish, play cards, spend time with family and go to the range to shoot. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War earning numerous medals including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a one of a kind, amazing individual and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Gary is survived by his sisters, Vicki Wentworth, Theresa Eichblatt, Kari Hale and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. To celebrate Gary’s life a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 in Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park with a time to gather from 1-2 PM and memorial service immediately following at 2 PM. He will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
