Gary J. Newman

Gary J. Newman, 69 of Carmel, passed away after a long illness, at his home Monday, April 17, 2023. He was surrounded by his family.

Gary was born in 1953, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Fred J. and Lois E. Newman.

He was an alumni of Lafayette Jefferson High School and graduated with a degree in Business from Ball State University. After college he was employed by Owens Corning Fiberglas and ended his career working for Norandex.

Gary is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon; children, Ryan M. (wife, Jamie) Newman, Christopher B. Newman and Greg E. (wife, Julie) Newman; grandchildren, Cole, Zoe, Quintin and Oliver, his niece, Krista Burgess and nephew, Shawn Newman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Newman.

Gary was a person of integrity who was always there to help his friends and family. He had a relentless work ethic and in his spare time, he enjoyed solving and completing home repair projects and supporting Buckeye football. His sense of humor will be missed. He was known for his corny jokes which prompted his grandchildren to call him “Corny” instead of Grandpa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity. Private family services will be held.
