Gary Richard Davis

Gary Richard Davis, 70, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on February 28, 2026. He was born on December 21, 1955, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents, Charles Richard Davis and Dorothy Catherine (Orebaugh) Davis. Gary met his wife, Rita (Shera) Davis through a mutual friend, and married on August 18, 1990. The pair enjoyed a wonderful 35 years of marriage together.

The consummate, strong and silent-type, Gary was at his happiest when providing for and spending time with family. Gary was an avid sports fan, cheering on his beloved Indiana University, Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers. His most valued free time was spent on the golf course and at the lake, admiring the tranquility of nature and socializing with friends and family.

Gary attended Warren Central High School and Indiana University, the first in his family to go to college. He built a professional career across 40 years in sales, mostly at GTE and Verizon, where he garnered a variety of sales awards.

Gary was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was a teenager and received a kidney/pancreas transplant in 2009, providing for another nearly 20 years with loved ones. After retirement, Gary found a community at Prairie View Golf Club and played in a variety of adult leagues across central Indiana. Gary in his later years cherished visiting his condo in Fort Myers, Florida.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Rita Davis; children, Kelsey Davis and Bradley Davis; sister, Judy Drake; and brothers, Randy Davis and Rick Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Dorothy Catherine (Orebaugh) Davis (1999) and Charles Richard Davis (2018).

A Memorial Service for Gary will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road, Westfield, IN 46062. A Memorial Gathering will immediately follow services, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
