Garnette Porter

Garnette E. Porter 76, passed away Aug. 13, 2015. Garnette was born July 1, 1939 in Erie, PA to the late Robert and Mildred Kauffman. She retired from AUI/Urology of Indiana after 27 years of service and headed south to enjoy retirement on Dataw Island with her husband, in 2005. She always looked forward to Bible study groups with her friends in South Carolina. She played bridge, enjoyed traveling and working out. Although she endured a 23 year fight with cancer, her love for the Lord, her family, friends and books were always evident. Survivors include her husband, Amel D. Porter; sister, Allene Collins; and five children: Jeff, Beth (Travis) Proffitt, Dawn Miles-Harrison, Stephanie (Gary) Gautier, Jeanine (Mike) Turpin. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Derrick, Aly, Joe, Charlotte, Dustin, and Lauren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. A celebration of Garnette's life will be held on Monday, Aug.17th at Flanner and Buchanan- Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd, Indpls, IN 46250. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with Dr. William E. Chapman officiating.
