Garland Lockard, 84, of Indianapolis passed away December 27, 2017 in McCordsville, Indiana. He was born February 17, 1933 in Wrigley, Kentucky to Seldon and Ida Lockard.
Family remembers Garland as an outdoorsy man who spent his earlier years living at a coal mining camp in Kentucky. He married his wife, Rosemary, in 1954, where they spent 48 wonderful years together until her passing in 2002. From 1950-1953, Garland served in the Army as a PFC. He spent time overseas in the Korean War where he drove a fuel truck. Garland retired from Preston 151 Trucking in 1991; he was employed as a truck driver for 35 years with various companies. He was also a member of American Legion Post #64 in Indianapolis.
Garland is preceded in death by his parents; Seldon and Ida Lockard, wife; Rosemary Lockard, long-time partner of 12 years, Edna, grandchildren; Jacob, Ricky Alan, Michelle, as well as many brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children; Gary Lockard, Cynthia (Greg) Boyce, Tamara (Tom) Repass, Terri (the late Bob) McWilliams, siblings; John Marshall (Anne) Lockard, Dell (the late Gene) Workman, 11 living grandchildren, and a host of many loving great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday, January 2, 2017 from 11-1 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 Holt Road, Indianapolis. Services will begin at 1 PM after the visitation. Garland will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery immediately following services.
