Frantz Jr; step-sister, Natasha Rondao; and step-mother, Shannon Frantz.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Peter P. Sosh; and Deirdra “Gigi” D. Frantz.

Garett “Bobo” Austin Frantz born on the Ides of March, was a sign right there he was destined for greatness. Garett came to us after we had tried having children for a couple of years and in this process lost 2 pregnancies. It is after we stopped trying and left it into god’s hand is it that Garett was born. We were the proudest and happiest of parents but still feared what may happen again, but still held faith in God, that this child would be here with us soon.

Growing up, Garett, seemed to always find his way falling down and scuffing up his nose…..every time. He had weekly boo boo’s on his nose. Down south they were called bobo’s……so from then on, he was mommy’s “lil Bobo”. Garett had an older brother, Ryan and younger sister, Rina, with whom he fought with like cats and dogs. But at the end of the day, they played together, laughed together, and followed each other around. They laughed together, ganged up on each other, blamed each other for things, but at the end of the night, were back being sister and brothers.

Over the years thought, Garett struggled with many things and going through things no child should have to endure, from struggling with his parents divorcing to witnessing the passing of his grandfather Peter Sosh. This is where Garett realized that he wanted to help people and be a nurse when he grew up. In the years coming Garett went from, a kid having emotional disability issues, to graduating from Decatur Central HS and being a Bus aide on the ED bus working with kids just like him growing up. He then branched out to the HS and worked in the classroom to help those kids just like he was as a kid.

In the midst of all of this he met the “love of his life” Marissa Donahue, who was best friends with Garett’s sister Katharina aka Rina. This is how they met. Everyone knew Garett liked Marissa, except for guess who…Marissa herself. Garett was one that did not date in high school and waited until Marissa graduated

to ask her out on a date. He asked Marissa out to his all-time favorite restaurant, El Rodeo, for their first date. After that, they hung out at her house along with going on fun adventures and going to the park. They got their first dog together named Shadoe, which they ended up having to give up and taking to a family member in Florida. This is where he proposed to Marissa on the beach surrounded by many strangers and live music and that night is when Saydee happened.

Garett was working at Decatur Central with special needs children, which he loved. After a few years working at the high school level, he went to the elementary age. He moved to the Mooresville school system to start working with elementary ED leveled children. On January 11, 2015, Saydee Renee joined their family. When Saydee started Kindergarten with her daddy working at school and she loved every minute of it.

Garett’s off time he loved playing board games, Saturday nights at White Flag games, and online gaming with his buddies. He also loved to go to the gun range and shoot guns. Garett’s spontaneity led to many fun and interesting dates nights with Marissa. But most of all he loved to take Saydee to the park and just play. Family was everything to him.

Garett also had a love for cooking, just like his mom does, especially the “on the whim”, “let me call my mom” all while walking through the grocery store on video chat saying “what can I make with this?”, or “what if I use beef and add some vegetables, would this seasoning be good?” Every dish ended up with sending a picture to mom showing her the end product.

Over the next several years, Garett found a path that led him to Valley Mills Christian Church, where he joined because of a friend telling him to “just try it out”. He ended up falling in love with it, to which Garett did the MEN’S FIGHT CLUB. Joining that ended up becoming the best thing for him and all his relationships.

During all of this, Garett found his “true calling”, which led him down the path to his start in the field of nursing. He started at Miller’s Merry Manor in Mooresville where he obtained his CNA license. Within his first month working there, he got employee of the month. After over a year of working at Miller’s, he started at a senior living facility called Worthington Place, where he had obtained his QMA state license. Alongside this, Garett took on a second job at MH Equipment to help him and his family financially for the upcoming months.

In the past several months, Garett and Marissa had been planning for their wedding on September 17, 2023. 2 weeks ago, they closed on their first home, which he was so proud of himself. Garett, Marissa and Saydee were beginning to get everything they dreamt of.
