G. David Silavs

July 17, 1965 — November 8, 2015

G. David Silavs
50, of Brownsburg, was born July 17, 1965, at what was then the new Community East Hospital, in Indianapolis, and died November 8, 2015. He was the son of Rev. George and the late Ruth Silavs. He is survived by his father, sister Kathryn Howell (Rodger), nieces and nephews, Abigail, Anna, Grant, and Michael Howell, step sister Julija Nitiss (Paul), step nephews, Zachary and Eric Nitiss.

Dave graduated from Benton Central High School, Oxford, Indiana in 1983 and attended Vincennes University. He was a longtime car salesman with Lockhart Cadillac and prior to that Collins Lincoln Mercury. He was a loyal friend to many, especially his classmates from Benton County. He was a member of Pleasant View Lutheran Church in Indianapolis.

Dave was a NASCAR fan, watching races on TV and attending races across the country with his friends. He enjoyed snowmobiling and golfing, shooting a hole in one in 1992, while golfing with his best friends. He loved to travel, including trips to Latvia, the western United States, and Florida. In his spare time, he enjoyed studying the craft of whiskey making, visiting craft distilleries in Kentucky and the southeastern United States. He hand built his deck and was a jack of all trades. He will be missed by his family and many loyal, lifelong friends, for his optimism and can do attitude.

Visitation will be held at Pleasant View Lutheran Church, 801 W. 73rd Street, Indianapolis, IN on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 4 to 8 pm. Services will be Friday, November 13, 2015 at the church, at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow on Saturday, November 14, at 11:30 a.m. at the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler, Indiana, immediately followed by a meal of remembrance at the Benton County Country Club. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple.
