Fumiko Fukada Hale

November 3, 1932 — February 17, 2016

Fumiko Fukada Hale of Indianapolis passed away peacefully on February 17, 2016 at the age of 83. Born on November 3, 1932 in Tokyo, Japan to Kyuji and Katsue Fukada, she was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Fumiko enjoyed being a homemaker, Boy Scout den mother, and member of the traditional Japanese dance troupe Minyo Club of Indianapolis. She attended Japanese Worship at Trinity Lutheran Church on the east side of Indianapolis.

Fumiko was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, infant son James, sister Yuko Kashiwa, and brother Shigeo Fukada.

Fumiko is survived by her daughter Nancy Henry (Brett) of Indianapolis, sons John Hale (Heidi) of Phoenix, Arizona and Edward Hale (Giuseppa) of Little Silver, New Jersey, and 4 grandchildren, Andrew Hale (Amanda), MacKenzie Hale, Robert Hale, and Evan Hale. Also surviving are her sister Yoshiko Nakao and brothers Toshio Hirai and Masuo Fukada.

Memorial services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM until service time.
