Fredrick R. Wicker, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026.
Fred was born on August 17, 1941, in Indianapolis to the late Merrill and Louise (Southerly) Wicker. He was a proud graduate of Manual High School. Following graduation, Fred honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, a time in his life he held with great pride.
Fred dedicated many years of his life to his career as an electrician and retired in 1999 from Kroger. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and the pride he took in his work.
On a personal note, Fred married the love of his life, Sharon, in November 1982. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and lasting memories. Fred will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, and willingness to help others.
In his free time, Fred enjoyed fishing and hunting, finding peace and fulfillment in the outdoors. Whether casting a line or spending time in nature, these moments brought him great joy. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; his son, Chris (Kristi) Wicker; his daughters, Pam Seller and Paula Moore; his grandchildren, Nick Wicker, Kyle Wicker, Blake Schneider, Brooklyn Schneider, Jake (Josie) Massengill, and Shaylyn Massengill; and his great-grandchildren, Landen, Owen, Olsen, Aubrey, Asher, and Brodie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Francis Sweeney; and his brothers, Junior Wicker, Johnny Wicker, Bud Wicker, Jim Wicker, Kenny Wicker, and Chuck Wicker.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on May 5, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East Funeral Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
