Frederick Albert Mesenbrink was born on April 4, 1931. He was then baptized on April 26, 1931at Grace Lutheran Church, Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He was the son of Albert and Olga Mesenbrink and brother to Elaine Wallinder and Lillian Boone.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Phyllis Mesenbrink; two children: Peter Grant Mesenbrink and Pamela Ann Rettig; and 4 grandchildren: Austin, Ashley, Sara, and Katie.
Fred graduated from York Community High School in June 1949 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from University of Illinois in 1953. After graduation, he was drafted into the Army from 1953 to 1955. He married Phyllis Mae Kiefer on November 28, 1964.
Upon discharge from the Army, he passed the CPA exam and was employed by Arthur Andersen in Chicago for 5 years. In 1960, he moved to St Louis and was employed by Anheuser Busch Inc. He served 5 years as an internal auditor, 4 years as a computer systems analyst, and 24 years as Plant Controller at the company’s brewery in Merrimack, New Hampshire. His responsibility was for administration, with emphasis on accounting. He and his wife Phyllis lived in Nashua, New Hampshire. He was the lead person on many corporate functions. He retired in 1993 and moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Fred had a passion for volunteering. This included 6 years on the Board of Directors and Vice President of Allocations for Southern New Hampshire United Way Fund. He served 4 years as volunteer assistant to the Mayor of Nashua, New Hampshire recommending city’s volunteer organizations funding.
From 1955 to 2005, he was a member of 7 Lutheran congregations where he served on numerous church councils. He served as a delegate to the LCMS National Convention in 1983 and to 4 district LCMS district conventions. He was a member of the New England District Mission Board. He helped plan 3 New England Lutheran Churches, 2 of which still exist.
He and his wife Phyllis moved to Fishers, Indiana in 2006 and became part of Cornerstone Lutheran Church. Due to being legally blind and his inability to drive, many of his activities were limited to small group studies and playing Senior Euchre.
Fred loved sports and has been a Chicago Cubs Fan since 1938. He loved watching sports until his final days.
