Freda M. Holzhausen

Freda M. Holzhausen, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away October 22^nd, 2023. She was born May 28th, 1934, in Mexico, Indiana to parents Harold and Mary (Deeb) Miller.

Freda grew up in Mexico, Indiana and later moved to Indianapolis. She held several jobs throughout her life, a waitress, a typist, a bookkeeper and later, a homemaker.

While she was working as a typist at Western Electric, she met the love of her life Ivan Holzhausen. They married June 10^th, 1956. They shared 42 wonderful years together. Ivan passed away in 1998.

Freda attended St. John’s United Methodist Church of Christ for many years, and later Old Bethel.

Freda was a stylish, loving woman who enjoyed being social. She was an avid member of Oasis, where she made many friends. Freda loved to travel, seeing sights from coast to coast. She was also a talented line dancer. Freda grew a garden each year, raising blackberries and grapes, and all kinds of delicious veggies. Much to her family’s delight, she would make juices and canned goods to share.

Freda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children Bruce Holzhausen, Beth Forst, and Kenneth (Lisa) Holzhausen; grandchildren Joseph Forst, Benjamin Forst, Brady Forst, Jenni Effinger, Katie Effinger, and Kent Effinger; great-grandchild Kellan Williams; and brother Joseph (Karen) Miller.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ivan; her daughter Karen Pilz; and siblings Abraham “AD” Miller, Bud Miller, Eddie Millier, Phillip Miller, Johnny Miller, Mary Jo Hann, and Barbara Gregory; and her canine companion Maggie.

Visitation for Freda will be Monday October 30^th, 11-1pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East; her funeral will begin at 1pm. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
