Fred O. Hollis, Sr.

Fred O. Hollis, Sr., 87, passed away at 6:05 am June 8, 2016 at the Masonic Home in Franklin, IN.

He was born on August 7, 1928 to Leo and LaVonne (Richardson) Hollis in Frankfort, IN. On March 27, 1951 he married Luella Jane (Nichols) Hollis who survives.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked at American Standard Pottery for almost 30 year retiring in 1980. He then worked at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library until his retirement in 1990.
He was also a greeter at the Kokomo Walmart in his later years. He also sold Real Estate for several years at M.R. Shallenburger and Robert Roler Real Estate.
He served on the Kokomo City Council from 1992 to 1996. He also served on the board of the City of First Federal Credit Union and helped start the Kokomo South Revitalization Organization.
He was a member of the Kokomo Masonic Lodge # 93 and the Kokomo Shriners.
Along with his wife he is survived by 3 sons, Fred Hollis of Kentwood, Michigan, James Hollis (Susan) of Speedway, IN and John Hollis (Debra) of Kokomo, IN; Grandchildren, Chris Hollis, Lauren Maran, Jonathan Hollis, Emily Hollis, William Hollis, Abigail Blake, Elizabeth Hollis, Katy Hollis, Gabe Hollis, Kendra Needham, Kelly Hollis, Brittany Witt, Monika Bitner, and Elton Bitner; sisters, Bonnie Loveless and Marjorie Lindeen.
He was preceded in death by, his parents and several siblings.
Visitation will be 2 pm Sunday, June 12, 2016 until service time at 4 pm at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway, 2950 High School Rd. Speedway, IN Burial will be 1 pm Monday, June 13, 2016 in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Kokomo, IN.
