Fred Dewey Bear, Sr.
66, Indianapolis passed away March 9, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospice.
He was born October 1, 1946 in Indianapolis the son of Dorothy (Stokes) and Pete Bear, Sr.
Fred was a 1964 graduate of Ben Davis High School where he played baseball for Ken Cox. He had retired from Chrysler and was a member of UAW Local 550. His love of sports, lead him to coach Little League baseball and manage the Prime Players co-ed softball team. Fred was an avid IU fan and NASCAR, he raced oval and figure 8 stock car at the Speedrome and was rookie of the year.
Fred is survived by his children, Lorie Lux, Fred Bear, Jr. and Joe Bear; Grandchildren, Ashley, Jacqueline, and John Lux, Natalie Wood, Emry Walker, Shelby, Teddy, Alex, Quinnton, and Addyson Bear; sisters, Bertha Nixon, Cheryl Bennett, and Dorothy Reynolds; brothers, Dave and James (Chico) Bear.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pete Jr., Bob, and Charles Bear and a grandson Bryce Bear.
A celebration gathering of Fred's life will begin at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Fred's honor may be directed to St. Vincent Hospice.
