Frank E. Little

Frank E. Little, Jr., 80, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, died April 18, 2011 at home. He was born in Indianapolis, IN and was the son of Frank E. and Elizabeth A. Little. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School and Butler University where he met his wife of 41 years, Mary Lou Renick Little, whom he lost 16 years ago. At Butler, he was a Phi Delta Theta, active in ROTC and President of the university YMCA. During the Korean War, he served as a Captain in the United States Air Force and later in the Air Force Reserve. He returned to Indianapolis and was with First Federal Savings/First Indiana Bank for 27 years, serving14 years as President. He and Mary Lou worked together with family for several years at Grueninger Travel in Indianapolis. In addition, he served on many boards including the Butler University Alumni, National Savings and Loan Association, the Kiwanis Club of Indianapolis, the Arthritis Foundation, the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee – Housing and Relocation Task Force, the District Eight Savings and Loan League of Indiana and the Insured Savings and Loan Association of Marion County. Also, he was a member of the Indianapolis Downtown Optimist Club and of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. In recent years he resumed his love of flying. Frank is survived by his sisters Betty J. Harvey, Cape Coral FL, Alice Jean McManus, Indianapolis, IN, daughter, Mary E. Hinshaw, Indianapolis, IN, son, Mark E. Little, Los Angeles, CA and grandsons Christopher M. and Alexander J. Hinshaw, Indianapolis, IN. Services will be held at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana, Saturday April 30, 2011. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside burial service with military honors at 11 a.m. followed by a life celebration luncheon in a visitation room at the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Washington Park East from 12 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674, or a charity of your choice.
