Frank L. Cooper Jr., 86, Indianapolis, passed away in Jupiter, Florida on September 9, 2011. He was born June 21, 1925, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Frank L. Cooper and Vadda (Newman) Cooper. He was married to Elizabeth Reel Cooper who preceded him in death in 1984.
Frank was employed as an engineer with Alvord Oil and Mergraf Oil Company for 22 years. He owned Cooper's Tippecanoe Marina from
1972 until 1979. He later worked at the Marina until his retirement. He graduated from Shortridge High School in 1943 and from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He served as an officer on board merchant ships during WWII. He was member of the Millersville Masonic Temple, Scottish Rite, the Patrol at the Murat Shrine Club and the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Association.
He is survived by one daughter Karen (Bill) Craft, Jupiter FL; two sons, Mark (Cheryl) Cooper, Ft. Wayne, and Frank (Linda) Cooper, Indianapolis.
Services will be held at 12 noon Saturday September 17, 2011, at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church 418 East 34th Street. Visitation will be from 10: 00 a. m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Riley Children's Hospital. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Broad Ripple.
