Francie Anne Robbins, 78, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on August 26, 2025. She was born on August 11, 1947, in Cornwall, New York, and raised by her parents, Bob and Dolores (Lopez) Payne.
Francie grew up an Army Bratt, frequently relocating across the United States and graduated high school in Fairbanks, Alaska. Following graduation, she served honorably in the United States Navy, where she served in the Hospital Corp. A respected member of her community, Francie demonstrating both her patriotism and independence. She spent 30 years employed in the medical field in various capacities. She enjoyed participating in bible studies such as Community Bible Study and Bible Study Fellowship. She also enjoyed ladies crafting nights at the church and attending retreats. She proudly contributed her time and efforts as a member of the Avon Band Booster Board, served in the Stephen Ministry and volunteered at Sheltering Wings. She was always known to have an open door and willing to step in to help and serve others, especially in times of need. She was most recently attending Zionsville Fellowship Church with her friends, Larry and Debbie McWhorter.
She lived a life rich with love and dedication, holding her family at the center of her world. Her cherished moments were spent in the company of her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.
Francie had a passion for travel, sharing many adventures with her late husband, Jack. They explored various destinations together, with a particular fondness for cruises, which allowed them to experience the beauty of the world while forging unforgettable memories side by side. Following Jack's passing, she continued to embrace her love of travel, finding joy in embarking on new journeys with her family.
Francie is survived by her children, Charles Schmitt, Christine Scott and Angela (Jonathan) Sherrill; grandchildren, Samantha, Michael, Cooper, Addison, Eva, Harper, Finley and Ruby; siblings, Tom (Linda) Custer, Mike (Cindy) Custer, Charlie (Robbie) Custer, and Bill Custer; Aunt, Lorraine Sturges.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Robbins, Jr.; her parents; her siblings, Bob Payne, Jeff Payne, and Joe Payne; nieces Kelli Payne and Kimbirlee Payne; and nephew Joseph Payne.
Visitation for Francie will be from 12-2pm on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park North – 2706 Kessler Blvd., W. Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46228, with a funeral service immediately following at 2pm. Burial with military honors will take place at Washington Park North Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Sheltering Wings.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise at Old Meridian for the wonderful care she has received since moving there in November. She gained some special friends in her short time living there who continued to look in and check on her to the very end. We would also like to thank the staff at Brighton Hospice for stepping in during such a difficult time and helping us navigate the final days.
