Frances Elizabeth Kirkham

Frances Elizabeth Kirkham was born on May 11, 1936, in Wheeling, West Virginia.  She was raised by a very loving family, the Lyons, in Huntington, West Virginia.  She passed away on July 10, 2023, in Bradenton, FL.  Frances attended school in Huntington.  Frances loved to share stories of her brother, Bill, Radio DJ in the 1940’s and 50’s.  She often talked of the famous singers that stayed with the family; names such as Hank Williams, Little Jimmy Dickens, Minnie Pearl, and others.  She relocated to Indiana in 1955 where she met Norman Kirkham.  They were married in 1956.  They had three children over the next 4 years.  Frances sought employment and worked in a number of positions.  She worked for Merchants Bank and PNC for over 20 years, including time as a branch manager, retiring in 1993.  Frances will be remembered for her incredible sense of humor, her infectious laugh, her funny songs.  She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, who passed away three days prior.  She is survived by her son Jeff Kirkham (Tina), daughter Cindy Floore (Tyler), and daughter Sherry Hersberger (Brian); granddaughters, Jenny, Jessi (Nick), Kori (Cody), Lauren (Cole), Tyann (Paul), Zackary, Lyndsey, Leslie (Cody); and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation for both Norman and Frances will be held from 5pm until 8pm on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis), where their funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.  Norman and Frances will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery, following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frances’ memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
