Floyd V. Posey

Floyd Vernon Posey was born January 27, 1927 and passed peacefully on October 17, 2016. He married his childhood sweetheart, Melba Marie (Gilbrech) Posey on May 22, 1948. They were married 68 years. Floyd served in the Army during World War II. He retired from Allison Transmission in 1984. After retiring he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening at home. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother Janie Posey, father, Noble Posey, brothers; Lloyd, Chester, Russell and Gene Posey, and sister Thelma Garver, as well as granddaughter, Amy Posey. He was blessed with a large family who provided love and support, and is survived by his wife, Melba (Marie) Posey, son, William Posey (Maureen), daughters, Linda Schneider (Randy) and Julie Routh (Steve), 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Friends and family may visit Thursday October 20, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00pm @ Flanner and Buchanan Decatur 5463 Kentucky Ave Indianapolis, IN. The funeral will be held @ 1:00pm. Friday, October 21, 2016 at the funeral home.

Floyd will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery with full military honors immediately following the funeral service.
