Floyd Russell Tomlinson, 96, originally of East Aurora, New York, and a longtime resident of California, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, with his granddaughter by his side. In his later years, he relocated to Carmel, Indiana, in 2019 to be closer to loved ones.
Floyd was born on January 8, 1930, in East Aurora, New York, to the late Elton and Grace Tomlinson.
A dedicated businessman, Floyd took great pride in owning and operating three Round Table Pizza restaurants. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in everything he built, and he found deep fulfillment in providing for his family and creating opportunities through his work.
Floyd had a passion for life that extended far beyond business. He was a world traveler who explored countless destinations, often alongside his beloved granddaughter, Lisa. His travels took him across the globe—including Canada, Mexico, England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Spain, Israel, Vietnam, China, and Brazil—with Hawaii holding a special place as his favorite. These experiences were not just trips, but treasured memories.
He had a love for sports and recreation, especially deep-sea fishing, golfing, and following his favorite California teams, including the Lakers, Raiders, Angels, Dodgers, and Mighty Ducks. He also enjoyed the excitement and tradition of attending the Indianapolis 500 with his friends Steve, Bill, and Joe.
Floyd will be remembered for his simple lifestyle, his quiet and steady presence, his generosity, stunning young looks, and his sharp, often unexpected sense of humor. He was a man of consistency and discipline, known for walking the halls twice a day and maintaining remarkable health and independence until the very end.
In his downtime, Floyd enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—keeping up with sports, reading, watching tv, and spending time with family. He was deeply loved and respected by those who knew him, and his calm demeanor and reliability left a lasting impression.
Floyd passed away following a brief and sudden battle with bone marrow cancer.
He was preceded in death by his beloved brother and best friend, Thomas Tomlinson; his wife, Mary; and his son, Dennis.
He is survived by his daughter, Renae Tomlinson; his granddaughter, Lisa Husmann; and her family—husband Josh, and children Jake (17), Jenna (13), and Jet (11); and his niece, Lynora Brown.
He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather whose legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.
