Floretta Yvonne Sultzer

Mrs. Floretta Yvonne Sultzer (“Flo”) was born April 29, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Willie Myrtle Smith. She received her elementary level education at Indianapolis Public School John Hope #26 and was a proud graduate of the prestigious Crispus Attucks High School. Later in life, with a demonstrated love for education, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the esteemed Martin University under the leadership of the late Father Boniface Hardin. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ as a pre-teen and was baptized at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.

On September 7, 1973, Flo was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Richard L. Sultzer. Together each and everyday of their lives, they shared 46 years and 14 days of joy, laughter, car rides, Arby’s, watching sports, and that truest deep love.

Flo worked as an administrative assistant in state government and never ever met a stranger. She was an extremely caring, compassionate and self-less mother, wife, mother-in “love”, and grandma. She was also a very loved aunt by her nieces, nephews and was affectionately known as “Aunt Flo” to her many younger generations of cousins.

Flo dearly loved life and her family and always cherished the opportunity to extend a word of encouragement to others. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Indianapolis Colts whether they were playing well or not—now that’s a true fan! You could always find her solving word search puzzles, dancing and listening to her vinyl records or radio. Her favorite evening pass time was “unknowingly” solving Wheel of Fortune puzzles to the final clue before her son Marc would quickly shout out the answer as Flo exclaimed how he cheated!

Flo departed this earth and returned to the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the age of 73 years and 10 months. She was preceded in death by her mother, brother (Cecil Calvert), sister (Patricia Smith), and husband (Richard L. Sultzer).

Cherishing her impactful memory are her beloved son, Marc Pe-Caine Sultzer (Trenna); grandchildren: Johnathan M. Davis (Kasey); Hope E. Sultzer; a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, other relatives, friends and her beloved Great Light Church family.
