Florence "Claudette" Pierce Bishop - Born March 25, 1934, entered Heaven April 12, 2026. Born in Evansville, Indiana, to John Cecil Pierce and Florence May Wright Pierce. Lived in an orphanage, several foster homes, and with her aunt until graduating from Evansville Reitz High School in 1952. Married 46 years to James "Jack" Bishop from February 28, 1953, until his death July 25, 1999.

Besides her parents, siblings who preceded her in death are stepbrothers William, Harold James and Robert Pierce; stepsisters Nadine and Vivien Pierce, and natural sister Betty Pierce Coudret (Don).

Claudette enjoyed life, from being a leader in Camp Fire Girls and a member of the FSLC Quilter's Club, to being an active member of the Ford UAW 1111 retiree group. She was happy to talk about the cruises she took to Hawaii, Alaska, Spain, and South America. She loved hosting family reunions at Christmastime. Other favorite activities were reading, especially her Bible, and working puzzles. Claudette designated herself as an Indiana Organ Donor and was able to donate skin grafts upon her death.

In her 92 years, Claudette and Jack amassed quite a legacy. Surviving children include Jacqualine (John) Pike, Ella "Sue" Stradley, Cynthia (William) Argenbright, Jerrald Bishop, Nina Claborn (Sam Stahl).

Her grandchildren are John "Ryan", Aaron James "AJ" and Quinten Pike; Christopher Parks, April Cravens, Dawn Parks, Stephanie (Marcus) Roberts; Anna (James) Driver, Anthony "Tony" (Bethany) Argenbright, Amanda Argenbright (Walter Newman); Breanna (Gavin) Birddle, Donna and Dennis Bishop; Cody (Lacey) Claborn.

Surviving great-grandchildren include Airen Pike, Kailee and Hannah Monroe, Caden and Sophia Pike, Christopher and Ellen Pike; James Darby, Novalyhn and Ashton Cathue, Brandon Asher, Nicholaus and Ricky Cravens; Beau and Franklin Woodruff, Vivian and Anthony Joseph "Joey" Argenbright; Sierra, Dakota, Sheyenna Roberts; Payton Birddle.

Her great-great-grandchildren are Ryker Griffin, Titus Asher, Camryn Cravens, Greyson and Preston Fike, plus one later this year.

Claudette began life from humble beginnings, but she was a survivor and lived life to the fullest. She was a big part of each of our lives and leaves us with many memories. She will be greatly missed!

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 12pm until the Service time @ 2pm at Flanner Buchanan -Washington Park East.
