Florence Beard

Florence Honor Beard 93, Indianapolis, passed away April 29, 2014. Florence was born at home near Hyde Park, London on August 10, 1920 to parents, Arthur Reginald and Florence Everline (Bright) Voyce. She graduated from St. Andrews School and went on to manage Arnotts Garage before meeting the love of her life, William C. Beard in 1943. The two enjoyed a two year courtship before marrying in 1945. After marriage, they returned to the U.S. where they began a family in 1949. Her family and friends were blessed by her kind and patient spirit. She was a 51 year member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) and enjoyed bridge, ceramics, sewing and a good cup of tea. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, assisting in the PTA, Brownies, Boy Scouts and various other youth projects throughout her life. Florence is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, William C. Beard; children: William Cameron Beard (Pamela Ann), Craig Beard (Roseann), Blake Beard (Christine), Pamela Caito (Anthony N.), Lynne Shepard and Scott Beard (Wendy); 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two canine companions, Sebastian and Savannah. Florence was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION OF SERVICES. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 in Flanner and Buchanan- Broad Ripple, where friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 1st.
