Flora Estella (Gill) Hatfield, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, died peacefully after a very long battle with dementia on May 23, 2026, at the age of 90, with family by her side.
She was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on July 22, 1935, to Elliott and Flora (Zeiher) Gill who preceded her in death. Flora was the eldest of five brothers and sisters whom she cared for deeply. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School (Indianapolis) in 1953.
Flora married Barrett (Barry) W. Hatfield on June 12, 1955, and celebrated almost 71 years of marriage. She was mainly a homemaker and devoted mother to their two daughters, Diana (Tom) McNamara and Terry (Mike) Kirschner. She loved playing in multiple bridge groups, tending to her roses, and watching the birds. She was thrilled to enjoy visits from her five grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) McNamara, Jennifer McNamara, Jon (Brittany) Kirschner, Monica (Kasey) Teegardin, and Katie (Greg) Thompson. She loved being a great grandmother to Emma McNamara, Owen and Emerson (Emmie) Kirschner, Kayden Teegardin, and Philip, Henry, and David Thompson, all who survive her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46227) from 1 - 2 pm with funeral services taking place at 2 pm. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
