Faye Reid

October 3, 1946 — April 23, 2024

Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Indiana – Faye (Rogers) Reid, 77, passed away at her home in Indianapolis on April 23, 2024. Faye was born Harold and Elma (Coleman) Sparks on October 3, 1946, here in Indianapolis.

Faye worked for over twenty-five years for Indianapolis Public Schools as a registrar before her retirement.

When not working, Faye loved to listen to Jazz. Miles Coltrain, Diana Krall, and Grover Washington were some of her favorite musicians. She could also be found at the newest art exhibits, looking over classic cars, or browsing at yard sales. Books were her escape; a motivational book, poems like Maya Angelou, or a classic novel would bring her great comfort.

Faye was also a born artist who loved to create. Whether that was abstract doodling, painting, or found object decoration, Faye never stopped beautifying the world around her.

Her first love though was her family. Funny and constantly joking with her children and grandchildren, Faye expressed her love through her humor. She adored her grandchildren and really, all children and the hope that they would give her.

Faye is preceded in death by her parents, Harold, and Elma Sparks.

Faye is survived by her children Lafawn Crumpton (Donald), Craig Cureton (Carla), and Darren Reid (Traesha); siblings Darold Sparks, Doris Sparks, Danni Lynn Sparks, and Dana Sparks; and grandchildren Brandon Cole, Amber Cole, Bryson Cole, Aaron Jordan Herring, Blayke Cureton, Shayne Cureton, Kelsey Cureton, Bianca Cureton, Mckenna Reid, Rebecca Reid, and Joshua Reid; and a host of great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on May 16, 2024, from 4-8 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229) with funeral services on May 17, 2024, from 12 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East.
