Faye Darlene (Barnett) Draper, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 21, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Born on August 19, 1944, in Indianapolis, the oldest daughter of Lyle and Virginia Barnett. She grew up in Brightwood, attending Tech High School. She was a loving wife to husband, Gary Draper, and cherished mother to her son Troy and daughter Brenda. She was a proud Granny to 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Those who knew Faye remember her as a strong mother and spoiling grandmother. She found great happiness in spending time with her family and sharing in their lives. She loved gardening, going shopping and watching Hallmark movies. She worked at Roselyn Bakery as a cake decorator for 28 years.
Faye is survived by her husband, Gary; daughter, Brenda Pherigo; granddaughters, Amanda (Bryan) Fox, Jennifer (Michael) Alston and Brianna Taylor; great-grandchildren, Payton Fox, Natalee Fox, Alex Fox, Savannah Fox and Arianna Alston; niece, Gina (Monty) Boomgaarden; Nephew, Randy (Yvonne) Ballou; Kitty, Pearl. She also adored her great-nieces and nephews, cousins and dear lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Troy Taylor; sister, Amy Ballou; nephew, Gary “Snoop” Ballou; parents, Lyle and Virginia Barnett; grandparents, Mike and Mary Doss, Preston and Bessie Barnett.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2025, at 11am at Washington Park East Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East Funeral Center.
Faye adored feeding and helping the kitties in her neighborhood so in lieu of flowers, her family asks others to please make a donation to a local animal shelter in her name.
