Farrel H. Brooks, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011. He was born on September 28, 1926 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Albert and Edna Brooks. Farrel served his country for 13 years in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard during WWII and the Korean War. He was a retired sheet metal worker with Local #20, a member of the WWII Round Table, AmVets Post 99 and American Legion Post 500. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marijane (Willingham) Brooks; sons, John (Terri) Brooks, Brian (Donna) Brooks, Joseph (Sharon) Brooks; grandchildren, Jacob, Thomas, Christopher, Austin, Megan, Jennifer; and 4 great-grandchildren. Farrel is also survived by sister, JoAnn Henthorn and brother, Richard Brooks. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral Services for Mr. Brooks will be held at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center – Speedway on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11am. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4 until 8pm, also at the funeral home. Entombment with military honors will be in Washington Park North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Hospital, AmVets Post 99 or American Legion Post 500.
