F. Susann "Susie" Williams

Frances Susann (“Susie”) Williams (née Lyons) passed away on September 1, 2023, at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Franklin (“Frank”); daughter, Kathy Jean; parents, James and Vera (née Pearson); sisters Shirley Jean Thompson and Betty Katherine (“Kate”) Wycoff; and brothers-in-law Thomas Thompson and Charles Wycoff. Susie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who is survived by her daughter, Deborah Susann Marlott (Jeffrey); grandchildren, Jeremy Blackwood (Rachel), Katherine Lykins (Matt), and Jon (Shelley); and great-grandchildren, Elena Blackwood and Tucker Marlott, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and great-grandnephews and -nieces.

Born and raised in Indiana, Susie was devoted to her family and Church. She maintained close ties with her sisters and their families, taking turns hosting treasured get-togethers for holidays, birthdays, and many other occasions. Susie and her husband were early members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, where she was actively involved in the Altar Guild, Sunday School classes, and other charity and service work. Also an avid golfer, until the later years of her life Susie could be found on a fairway or green on many summer days.

She and her husband, Frank, served others as models and teachers of successful, loving married and family life, characterized by care, forgiveness, and support for others. Susie touched many lives and will be remembered fondly—and certainly for never failing to have a tissue, hand sanitizer, or writing utensil at the ready when others needed them and for sending expertly-timed birthday and holiday cards until the last few weeks of her life.
