In Loving Memory of Exel Ray Woodcock Sr.

Exel Woodcock Sr of Plainfield, IN. beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 11, 2024, at the age of 86.  

Born on July 1, 1937, in Morgantown, Kentucky to Carlie and Major (Kitchens) Woodcock, Exel was a kind-hearted and generous soul.  We will remember his quiet strength and gentle demeanor that touched the hearts of so many throughout his life.

His unwavering devotion to the Woodcock family was a source of integrity and standards that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his devotion to family, Exel was dedicated to his work amassing over 35 years as a skilled tradesman at Allison Transmission in Speedway, IN.  While at Allison’s, Exel forged friendships that endured a lifetime.

Outside of family and work, Exel’s hobbies included his horses, camping, gardening, and the Chicago Cubs.

Exel is survived by his daughter Raedean (DeeDee) married to Michael Chumley, daughter Tracy married to Randy Jackson, daughter Tammy married to David Hestand, and son Exel (Woody) Woodcock, Jr. married to Angela.   Grandchildren Carley (Marlon), Nathan (Maggie), Amanda Jo (Donald), Clinton (Shawna), David, Christian (Haley), Henry, Jack, Daniel, and Matthew.  Great Grandchildren Hayden, Jameson, Lincoln, Marlon II, and Jax. Sister Lilly married to David Golay and brother JR Woodcock.  His loving family and countless friends will cherish his memory and carry his spirit in their hearts forever.

Preceded in death by Wife Shirley Woodcock (Profitt), grandson Caleb Hestand, brother Jessie Woodcock, brother James Woodcock, and parents Carlie and Major Woodcock.

Services will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229) on Friday, April 19, 2024. 

Viewing will be begin at 12 pm with Funeral Services to begin at 2 pm followed by on site burial at Washington Park East Cemetery.

Though he may be gone from our sight, Exel’s love, kindness, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, dear Exel.  You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
