Evelyn Mae Ziegler, 96, passed away peacefully October 27th, 2025, surrounded by her family and the loving nurses at Traditions. She was born November 29th, 1928, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to parents Doris and Sara Will.
On March 19th, 1949, Evelyn married the love of her life, Eugene Ziegler. Together they shared 74 wonderful years together.
Evelyn was a very hard worker, spending many years as a secretary with various companies. She retired from Dow Chemical after 20 years of faithful service.
Evelyn was proud mother of her two beautiful children Laura and Cindy. She loved being a grandmother, great grandmother, and recently a great- great grandmother. The family spent many summer vacations at Dale Hollow Lake creating wonderful family memories. She loved traveling, taking cruises, needle point, reading and working in the yard. Evelyn showcased her creative side with being a talented seamstress. She enjoyed crafting at her church and going to different craft shows with Gene. They had a woodworking booth together for many years. If there was one thing in life Evelyn enjoyed more than creating and crafting it was watching classic movies. She loved to go back to the golden age of the silver screen and watch black and white films, especially with her favorite actress Bette Davis.
Evelyn was a devoted Christian and was a long-time member of Faith Presbyterian Church. There she would join her friends for fellowship and crafts.
Evelyn is survived by her dear daughters Laura Ziegler (Joseph Holland) and Cynthia McDaniel (Michael); grandchildren Nicole Martin (Michael), Natalie Light (Justin Webb), Angela Mathewson (Dustin), Andrew McDaniel (Danielle); granddaughter in law Tara McDaniel; Nine Great grandchildren; One great-great granddaughter; her sister Harriett Fisher, and several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene Ziegler, her parents Doris and Sara Will; her grandson Todd McDaniel; her two brothers Jack and Charles Will, and several of her dear nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held in Evelyn’s honor at 2pm on Tuesday, November 4th with a funeral service to follow at 3pm. All will take place at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
