Evelyn Irene Sims, 88, a resident of GreenTree in Columbus and a former resident of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Evelyn was born February 12, 1924 in Francesville, Indiana to Ludwig C. and Lena Ringen Kruger. She graduated in 1942 from Francesville High School and maintained lifelong friendships with her childhood friends and classmates.
Evelyn retired from Renner's Express and previously worked for the Social Security Administration. She was a faithful member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Indianapolis where she developed close ties to members of the congregation and community. As a member of the Deborah Circle at Broadway and other women's groups, Evelyn was known for her homemade pies and ready smile. During the week or in time of need, she volunteered in the church office and for the American Red Cross.
Friends and family are invited to gather at 1:00 pm at Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple, with funeral service following visitation at 3:00 pm Sunday, October 7th.
Evelyn was married to Paul E. Sims who predeceased her in 1990. She is survived by her children, Sharon Sims Knowles and husband, Tom; Patty Sims Uffman and husband, Gary; Jeanie Sims Scofield and husband, Randy; and Steve Sims and wife, Susan. Grandchildren include Jeff Knowles, Josh Uffman, Minta Scofield Johnson, Zach Scofield, Paul, Will and Jack Sims; sister, Sylvia Doll; and brother, Kenneth Kruger. Great Grandchildren; Ella and Maddie Johnson and Teagan Uffman.
