Evelyn Pauline (Polly) Tarplee

May 15, 1922 — June 25, 2016

Evelyn Pauline (Polly) Tarplee, 94, of Greenfield, passed peacefully at Hancock Regional Hospice on June 25, 2016. She was born on May 15, 1922 to Carl and Elma Louise Simpson in Wayne County, IN.

Evelyn lived in Lawrence, IN for 50 years and moved to Greenfield in 2010. She retired in December 1989 from the Finance Center at Fort Harrison, IN. Evelyn worked at Camp Atterbury during WWII. She also worked numerous other jobs including Stokely Vancamp. Co., American United Life, and William H. Block Co. Her greatest Joy was spending time with her family, baking, sewing, reading, and helping other people.

Survivors are; Children: Linda Hollin of Greenfield, Sandra Bowman of Columbus, OH, and Ronald Tarplee (wife Sue) of Greenwood; sister: Shirley Hunter of Connersville; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex; sister Barbara; brothers Robert, James, and Billy, as well as her parents.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN. Funeral service will follow at 3 with Danny Curry officiating. Burial will be at the New Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown, IN.
