Evelyn P. Bowling

Evelyn Peters Bowling 87, passed away August 18, 2013. Evelyn was born on November 30, 1925 near Madison, IN to the late Graydon and Olive (Mikesell) Peters. She was preceded in death by John, her husband of 62 years, infant son John Bowling II, and brother Clyde Peters. She is survived by children, Vicki & (Dan) Wilhite, David & (Vicki) Bowling, Cindy Bowling, Patty Bowling, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Evelyn was a Registered Nurse, receiving her degree from Kentucky Baptist Hospital in Louisville, then working as a surgical nurse in hospitals in Tallahassee, FL, Denver, CO, and finally in Seymour, IN, where she retired in 1987. She set aside her career as a nurse during the years of 1952-1965, to devote her life to her family. She and John raised their family in Columbus, IN. They were members of East Columbus United Methodist Church for 54 years. Evelyn and John delivered Meals on Wheels until they moved to Indianapolis in 2005 to be closer to their children. Visitation will be from 10 to noon Saturday August 24 at Flanner and Buchanan -Washington Park North, with the service following at noon. A graveside service is scheduled at noon, Monday August 26 at Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice.
