Evelyn Marlene Whitaker

Evelyn “Marlene” Whitaker, 72, passed away on May 22, 2023.

She was born on May 25, 1950, in Indianapolis to Russell and Evelyn McCarty.

She met the love of her life, Michael and they married on August 15, 1970.

Marlene loved her candy and loved the blue raspberry drinks from McDonalds. She was strong and took over whenever her husband was struggling. She also enjoyed working. She was a good person and a great mother and wife. Marlene also loved to reminisce over old pictures.

Marlene worked for the United Steelworkers for over 25 years and enjoyed housekeeping and outdoor activities.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Whitaker; her children, Jason Whitaker, Jill Whitaker, and Sean Whitaker (Melissa); and grandson, Roman Whitaker.

Funeral service will take place 10 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229 with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023, her 73^rd birthday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the same location.
