Evelyn L. (Poynter) Swedberg 83, passed away on August 14, 2012. She was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, graduating from Arsenal Technical High School in 1946. She was employed by Indiana Bell for 17 years and later worked for Franklin Twp. Schools. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Lecta Poynter; her husband, John E. Swedberg; brothers, Earl and Robert D. Poynter; and sister, Bernice Moore. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Harrington; daughter, Lorraine Swedberg; sons, Eric (Stephanie) and Dale (Kim) Swedberg; grandchildren, Caleb, Karin, and Braelyn Swedberg, and many nieces and nephews. She was active in Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in downtown Indianapolis for many years and later attended New Bethel Baptist Church. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, and greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as other family and friends. She took pleasure in flower gardening and making handcrafted cards, which her friends treasured. Visitation will be Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan - Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis with the funeral service there on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery.
