Evalyn Marie Lewis was born January 1, 1923 in Indianapolis, IN to Claude and Aletha Shaw.
Evalyn was the youngest of four siblings and the only girl. She was proceeded in death by her parents and brothers, William, Richard and Vernon Shaw.
Evalyn grew up in Lockfield, and attended public schools 4, 17 and Crispus Attucks. In April of 1946 she was united in Holy matrimony with Lee H. Lewis whom also proceeded her in death. To this union two daughters were born, Leesa and Denise. In her early years, she was the head cashier at 7-11 Supermarkets and retired from Community Action of Greater Indianapolis in 1998.
Evalyn was a good mother/grandmother/great grandmother, who taught all of her girls about life, love and the pursuit of happiness. She was known as "Granny" to a whole host of family and friends. She was a mother to many and will be greatly missed by all.
Evalyn answered the call of her Heavenly Father on September 17, 2014, at the age of 91 years, nine months and sixteen days. She was prepared to meet her Father, mother and other beloved family members.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Leesa Green and Denise Clardy; granddaughters, Leann Lewis (Reggie), Richana Shelton, Victoria Green, Azure Clardy and Angela Grundy; grandson, Roddell Green II (Daria); godson, Tony Morton Sr.; great grandchildren, Cynteria Barnett,Taeana and Tyler Shelton, Nyasia, Jace and Roddell Green III; Nicki Shaw, Fletcher H. Wiley and a host of other Relatives and friends.
