Eugene Southerland

September 23, 1949 — October 16, 2011

Eugene Southerland Went home to be with the Lord on October 16, 2011. Born September 23, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of Robert B. Southerland and Vinie B. Southerland who preceded him in death. He was an amazing man of God, leaving a legacy that will carry on for generations to come. He was a friend, a father, a brother, and a husband who will be missed by so many. He was a man who lived life to the fullest appreciating every moment of every day. He loved without reservation and led by example. There are no words to describe the life that this man lived. He was a faithful servant to the Lord. He was a 42 year employee of IPL where he became a mentor to many of his co-workers. He was an IBEW union member of The Local 1395. Not only was he on the Board of Elders at Charity Tabernacle, he served as a spiritual leader positioning others to further their walk with the Lord. He was survived by his wife and best-friend Julie Southerland, his brother Leonard Southerland, his son John (Kim) Southerland, daughter Gena (Danny) Hale, daughter Samantha (Miles) Glynn, daughter Kimmie (Steve) Eads, daughter Sara (Richard) Griffin, and son Daniel Brown. He was the beloved "Papaw" to Keith Condon, Shelby Southerland, Danielle Southerland, Emilee Hale, Gabe Eads, Grace Eads, and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at Charity Tabernacle 2700 S. Tibbs Ave., Indpls. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 at Charity Tabernacle.
