Ethel Mary Lecroy

E. Mary Lecroy, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
Mary was one of 12 children born in Southern Indiana. Mary worked as a secretary for the Plant Manager at General Motors. She worked for 40 years and retired. She was esteemed for her high work ethic. Not one to sit still, she continued to work at Markey’s for four years. Poised and referenced as a lady, she was graced with femininity and purity. Women in her era were, the light of the home and Mary was no exception. She embraced her love of her family as she nurtured her only son, Danny. Her days were filled with family outings to Bedford, Indiana for impromptu family gatherings where laughter, eating and games would fill the day. She was very close to her brothers and sisters. Her love for bowling was focused as she was on several bowling leagues around Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Likewise, she loved to read a good book or sit and watch hummingbirds for a great while. Simplicity at its best brought much joy to her life.
Her profound love came with her two grandchildren, Madison and Dillan. For hours on end, her life was spent playing, loving and nurturing these young lives. Mary was her legal name but Mamaw was her endearing name to her beautiful grandchildren.
Bob and Mary were married for 52 years. A rarity at best, there was a bond which could not be broken. Their love for one another was like no other. The laughter outweighed the tears but their love prevailed in all circumstances. Days were filled with work and evenings were filled enjoying each other’s company. Dependency on one another was the glue that held the years of love together.
Mary, a lady, will always be remembered and in the hearts of her siblings, her husband, son and her grandchildren for all the days of their lives.
