Ernestine Lyke
83, of Indianapolis, passed away April 1, 2020. She was born on March 18, 1937 in McCrory, Arkansas as the daughter of Ernest and Ailene Dodd.
After graduating from Broad Ripple High School Ernestine went on to work as a secretary for Marvin Sablosky. She eventually went to work for her brother-in-laws’ construction company, G & J Construction, as a secretary and then went on to retire from there. Ernestine enjoyed bowling, gardening, and sewing. She was an avid Pacers and Colts fan and never missed a game. She was a member of the Oaklandon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Asbury United Methodist Church, and Cumberland United Methodist Church. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
Ernestine is survived by her children: Cheryl (Bruce Gaddy) Lyke, Terry (Donna) Lyke, Larry Lyke; grandchildren: Amanda (Jeremy) Allton, Mary Ford, Michael Ford, Autumn (Christopher) Stone, Dr. Katherine (Zach) Rinkes, Jared Lyke; 11 great grandchildren; siblings: Francis, Darlene, Diane, Judy, Ed, Fred, Roger, Bobby, Phil, Greg; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 49 years, Richard Lyke.
Family will be having private services at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cumberland United Methodist Church.
