Eric L. Hepler

August 27, 1975 — March 25, 2022

Eric L. Hepler, 46, of Carmel passed away Friday, March 25th after bravely confronting an aggressive cancer diagnosis.

Eric was born August 27th, 1975, in South Bend, Indiana to Deborah and Jay Hepler. As a young boy, he loved working with his grandfather Paul in the family concrete business in Mishawaka, Indiana. His most cherished memories are the years of childhood adventures he had with his cousins. When Eric was 7 years old, he got the best present ever, his little sister Anne. They were confidantes, playmates, best friends, troublemakers and had a very close relationship.

Eric moved with his family to Carmel, Indiana in 1989, and graduated from Carmel High School in 1994. He was a Carmel Greyhound football player and loved to umpire softball games. Eric was an accomplished artist and loved to draw and paint. Following his graduation, Eric attended Purdue University from 1994-1998, pursuing a degree in History, one of his great loves. At Purdue, Eric was a member of the Acacia Fraternity and remained in close contact with his fraternity brothers throughout the years. They loved to watch the Boilermakers together, or just have an endless text conversation about how bad we were missing layups.

After leaving Purdue, Eric made a multitude of friends working in the restaurant industry. He also became a salesman, and his time at Monster began his development into a polished businessman, accomplishing Top Seller Awards in both 2006 and 2007.

Eric was an amazing entrepreneur. He was willing to learn any subject in order to succeed in his business plan. Eric’s life achievement was being the CEO of Balance Claims, a company he cofounded. Eric was a brilliant and respected entrepreneur. No matter how big the idea, he could take it and execute it. He always dreamed big, even when insurmountable obstacles stood in his way. Eric became a mentor to many, learning to effectively lead by listening to people, being compassionate and recognizing the unique gifts of each employee.

In November of 2007, by pure chance, Eric met his sister’s friend Corinne at a bar down the street from his brand-new duplex. Eric and Corinne were married October 27, 2011, and just recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. Eric and Corinne loved to travel to the beach, spend time at their lake house in northern Indiana with family, and watch college basketball at their home in Carmel, Indiana. It was the joy of Eric’s life to be the bonus dad to Katie and Carter. He taught them to swim in lake water, drive the boat, how to be an excellent judge of character, and how to give from your heart. Watching them grow up meant everything to him. Eric adored his animals, past and present, – Caymus, Abby, Bella, and Penny.

Eric was a treasured son-in-law, brother-in-law, and Uncle to Corinne’s family.

Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Hepler, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as his cousin, Megan Wagley. Eric is survived by the love his life – his wife, Corinne, and two children Katie and Carter Montieth. Eric is also survived by his father; Jay L. Hepler (Suzanne), sister; Anne Hepler (Ricky Harmon), his niece Meara, and nephew Gavin. Eric is survived by many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins whom he loved dearly.
