Emogene Hart, 89, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. She was born on February 28, 1925 in Bedford, IN to Joseph Allen and Blanche Violet (Isom) Hart. Genie attended Bedford High School and graduated in 1942. She worked at Crane and for the FAA as an executive secretary for many years. Her work took her to Indianapolis, Chicago and Anchorage, Alaska before retiring and returning to Bedford. Genie loved traveling and had been to many state parks, but her favorite location was Estes Park, Colorado. She volunteered for the Bedford Historical Society where over the years traced her heritage to the Mayflower. Genie was a member of the Mayflower Society and was very proud of that accomplishment. She is survived by her sister Chrystal A. Patton and several nieces and cousins. Genie was preceded in death by her brother, William S. Hart. Visitation for Ms. Hart will take place on Friday, May 30, 2014 in Day and Carter Mortuary from 10am until 11:30am. Funeral services will begin at 11:30am, also in the mortuary. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
