Emma Lou (Coats) Doyle

Emma Lou (Coats) Doyle, daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend to many, peacefully passed from this earth in the quiet morning hours of January 16 at the age of 99. Emma was born to Herschel and Mary Jane (Blevins) Coats and was sister to two brothers, Herschel and Tom. She married Walter Doyle on August 23, 1946. Her stepson, Joe and wife Pat gave her two grandchildren, Walter Joseph Doyle III (Katherine) and Bobbi Jo (Gary) Rivers. Emma Lou was fond of hosting many of the family gatherings and her nieces and nephews, Dave (Grace) Coats, Jeff (Jennie) Coats, Cathy (Gary) Bryant and Mary Ellen (Jerry) Lish, have many great memories of Thanksgivings and Christmases at her house. Emma will be remembered for her everlasting love for her husband, Walter, her devotion to her family and her fierce will. Emma lived her last years in the Assisted Living unit at Westside Garden Plaza in Indianapolis, making friends there and creating memories with stories to tell! The family appreciates all the staff at Westside Garden Plaza for everything they did for her to give her the best quality of life she could have had, especially during the shutdown of the Covid pandemic. Once things opened and everyone was vaccinated, she enjoyed being able to get out again with family for short drives and casual meals. Although she will be missed by family members who are left here on earth, they are confident that she has been welcomed home by her mother and father, her brothers, and her husband and that she is enjoying another family gathering marked by games of horseshoe, euchre, homemade chicken and dumplings and ice cream. To Celebrate Emma’s Life there will be a Graveside Service held at Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN on February 7, 2022, at 11:00am.
