Emma Crawford

October 14, 1920 — February 8, 2011

Emma Estes Crawford 90 was born October 14, 1920 in Kentucky to Alice and Harvey Estes, and went home to the Lord on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. During her long and wonderful life she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a warm and considerate person with a great sense of humor; she will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A woman of deep faith, she was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Broad Ripple for almost 50 years until its closure. She used her gifts of compassion, hospitality, cooking, teaching and money management in countless ways during that time. She was a current member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church. She volunteered in many places, including Methodist, St Vincent’s and The Women’s Hospitals and for Meals on Wheels. Her greatest joy was her family and she cared for them unfailingly. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, James A. Crawford. She is survived by her only son, Michael (Peggy), three granddaughters, Megan Bickel (Luke), Beth and Ellie Crawford, and three great grandsons, William, Henry and Jack Bickel. The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Vincent Hospital, Marquette Manor Health Care and St. Vincent Hospice for their kindness and compassion during the past couple of months.
