Emily Krynski Renkiewicz 87, of Indianapolis, formerly of Severna Park, Maryland, died August 19, 2012. She was born to Adam and Julia (Kapusta) Krynski in Detroit, Michigan on December 4, 1924.
Education was very important to Emily. She finished high school at 16 and put herself through college. She later received a Masters in Education from Johns Hopkins University and worked in the Anne Arundel County Public School System in Maryland for over 20 years as a high school teacher and vice principal. She was proud of the educational success of her children and grandchildren. She was active in Delta Kappa Gamma, the professional honorary society of women educators.
Emily married Henry Frank Renkiewicz on August 28, 1948. They enjoyed nearly 63 years of marriage, including 44 in Maryland where they loved fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. They traveled together to many countries, learning each country's language before visiting. After moving to Hoosier Village in 2006 she served on the Resident Council and enjoyed her Red Hat friends.
Emily also enjoyed being with family, who will miss their time with her. She was a wonderful wife, aunt, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who built a strong life from very modest beginnings. She was preceded in death by son David Chester Renkiewicz , husband Hank, and her three sisters. She is survived by daughter Robin Julia Renkiewicz Miner (David); grandchildren Jeffery David Miner (Katina) and Emily Jean Miner; and great-granddaughter Stella Jean Miner.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak Street, Zionsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 25 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Zionsville Cemetery.
