Emily Mae Smotherman, 43, of Indianapolis passed away on July 22, 2021. Emily was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to loving parents, Anthony and Elizabeth, on December 2, 1977. It was simple—if you met Emily you liked her. Her smile lit up any room she was in, and her laugh was infectious. Growing up she was affectionately called “Little Blondie.” She enjoyed her time at the beaches and Florida with family, and supporting her children—whether it was cooking, shopping, or attending extracurriculars. She was a dedicated employee for the majority of her career as a medical coder and recently as a retail associate for Burlington Coat Factory. She worked hard to provide for her three beloved children. She wore the “mom” title as a badge of honor, as her children were undoubtedly the loves of her life. Anything she did it was for them. Emily and her huge heart of gold will be missed sorely by all the lives she has touched. She has made her mark on this world and will be never forgotten.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her parents, Anthony and Brenda Smotherman and Elizabeth Thomas; her favorite people in the world—her children, Mariah Jae Smotherman, Isaiah Joseph Wilson, Isaac Lavon Wilson; her siblings, Ann (Jeff) Trent, Irmina Sexton, and Allen Hudson; 11 nieces and nephews; and a host of close friends and extended family.
Emily is preceded in death by her babygirl, Alexis Shunte Wood, and her brother, Josh Smotherman.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 12-2PM with a service beginning at 2PM at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5125 N Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, Indiana 46226. Emily will be laid to rest in Washington Park North Cemetery.
