Emily Holland, 93, of Indianapolis (Speedway), passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023. She was born on June 24, 1929 in Plain City, OH to George and Minnie Sesler. She moved to the Speedway area in 1964, where she raised six kids and provided child-care to many more who affectionately knew her as “Emmy”. The most important thing in her life was family and she spent as much time with her children and grandchildren as possible. She spent her last 8 years at Westminster Village North where she made many new friends and truly enjoyed being a part of their community.
She is survived by her children, Diane (Roger) Burgan, Joe (Mary) Holland, Terry (Dave) Witzerman, Brian (Amy) Holland, Christine (Kevin) McCarley, Karen (Doug) Hanawalt and 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Emily is also survived by her sister, Donna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Holland, parents, six siblings, and granddaughters, Lauren Hanawalt and Brianna Holland.
A Mass and visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at St. Simon Catholic Church. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. with Mass at noon. A private burial will be held at Washington Park North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Indiana Make-A-Wish Foundation.
