Emelita (Tagle) Tolentino 80, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024. Emelita was born on October 28, 1943, in Tagkawayan, Quezon, Philippines to Eulogio Ramos and Leonila (Tan) Tagle. Emelita graduated Cum Laude in April 1963 from the University of the East where she received her bachelor’s degree in business administration. Emelita was a CPA in the Philippines. In 1973, Emelita and her husband moved their family to the United States of America where she worked for the Indiana Arts Commission for over 35 years. She was a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church since 1974. She was a generous giver and made numerous contributions and donations to St. Gabriel, the American Heart Association, Paralyzed Veterans of America, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, America Needs Fatima, as well as many other charities. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Emelita was preceded in death by her parents: Eulogio and Leonila Tagle, and her husband Rosendo Cantos Tolentino who she married on November 20, 1966, in Lucena City, Philippines. Rosendo passed away on March 13, 2017. She is also preceded in death by their daughter Milette Tolentino, and her sisters: Evelia Tagle, Estelita Salonga, and Luzviminda Macabagdal.
Calling will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan - Speedway from 4 - 8 PM. Additional calling on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church from 9 - 10 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 10 AM. Entombment will be in Washington Park North Cemetery immediately after the mass. Everyone is welcome to join the family for a memorial luncheon at St. Gabriel in the cafeteria after the entombment.
Emelita is survived by her children: Monina (Ka Su) Tolentino, Marissa Tolentino, Ronald (Miranda) Tolentino, Michelle (Michael) Jones, and Matthew Tolentino, and her grandchildren: Elijah, Ian, Lucas, Jesse, Tristan, Landon, and Isabella. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Raymundo (Sylvia) Tagle and her sister, Evelyn (Conrado) Cansino.
