Elmer "Bud" Lowery, Jr.
79, of Speedway passed away on March 7, 2012.
Bud was born December 24, 1932 in Indianapolis, IN and graduated from Washington High School in 1951.
He was employed by Commonwealth Life Insurance and later owned and operated a vending business, Lowery & Sons. Bud was an active member of Westview Christian Church and former President of the Speedway Lions Club. In 2012, as a tribute to Bud who started the Speedway Easter Egg Hunt, it was renamed the "Lion Bud Lowery Speedway Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt". He also served as Past District Governor in District 25F of the Indiana Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Phillips Lowery of 58 years and their five children, Michael (Marcy) Lowery, Diane (Joe) Lykins, Lisa (Helmut) Schwarzin, Greg Lowery and Beth (Jeff) DeLoughery; seven grandchildren and approaching birth of great-granddaughter; brother, Jerry King, and sister, Carol Heyden and his beloved dog Ebony. Bud is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James King.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 2 to 6 pm at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral – Speedway. Services will be Monday, March 12, 2012 at 11 am at the funeral center. Burial will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Speedway Lions Club, Westview Christian Church or American Heart Association.
