Ellis Leon Wilson, 85, of Zionsville, IN passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015. Born in Royalton, IN he attended Zionsville High School and served as president of the 1948 graduating class and attended Purdue University. He served in the United States Air Force as an electrician. He retired in 1987 as a Senior Quality Analyst and Review Representative for the Quality Assurance Department of Allison Division of General Motors Corp. He later worked for Butler Automotive Group. Leon was a member of the Zionsville Christian Church and the American Legion Post #79. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Zionsville Lions Club where he served as President in 1985. Leon never knew a stranger and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Jane (Cooper) Wilson; daughter Kathy Wilson Bennett; granddaughter, Jamie Bennett Lecklitner (Andrew); brother, William "Boomer" Wilson (Janet); nephew, Douglas Wilson; niece, Amy (Wilson) Hahn (Jim) and Gregg Wilson (Angie). He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Leon's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 13, 2015 at Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N. 9th St., Zionsville, IN with burial in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday, and an hour prior to service on Friday at the Church. Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Zionsville entrusted with arrangements.
