Elizabeth Dee (Wible) Shookman

Elizabeth Dee (Wible) Shookman passed away on March 31, 2024, at the age of 99, in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Betty was born in South Milford, Indiana, in 1924. She enjoyed her childhood with her parents and three siblings on the family farm in LaGrange County. 

She married Miles Shookman in 1942, and they lived together for 60 happy years in Indianapolis. They had two children. Betty was a devout member of Northwood Christian Church for over 50 years. She joined the Indianapolis Hiking Club in 1988 and earned her 6,000 mile award. She loved music and played the piano most of her life. 

Surviving family members are her daughter Janet Simmermon, her grandson Matthew Simmermon (Juli), two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Florence Wible, her loving husband Miles Shookman, her son Kent Shookman, her sister Kathleen Decamp, and her brothers John and Dave Wible. 

No services will be held, but her family encourages you to share fond memories and expressions of sympathy below. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations could be made to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, National Parks, State or local Parks, or your favorite charity. Thank you.
