Lifelong Lawrence Township Resident dies at age 94.

Elizabeth Irene (McConnell) Perkins, aged 94 was born Friday, April 5, 1929 at @5:30am at 17 N Harding, Indianapolis. Elizabeth passed peacefully in her home on February 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Donald Richard Perkins 1927-2012, married in 1950, and her son Donald Alan Perkins (Marilyn). She was also preceded in death by her Parents, Howard and Julia (Emery) McConnell, and Sister Julia Ann (McConnell) Byerly (Ellsworth). Elizabeth is survived by Brothers; Howard Emery (Blanche) and James Arthur (Connie) McConnell, her children, Bruce (Linda) Perkins, Diane Parsons, Cynthia Perkins and Francine Napariu, Six Grandchildren; Sarah Parsons, Kyle Parsons, Beth Perkins Rugg, John S. Napariu Jr (Nyla), Joseph Napariu (fiancée Morgan Stunda), and Sonya Napariu (fiancée Tyler Simpson), and Four Great-Grandchildren; Evelyn Napariu, John C. Napariu, Cameron E Rugg and Reece M. Rugg.

Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of Lawrence Township living in Lawrence and Castleton, attending Castleton School and graduating from Central of Lawrence High School in 1947. Elizabeth was an active member of both Lawrence United and Castleton United Methodist Church from Cradle Roll to Death. She enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. Elizabeth was active in Castleton MYF as a youth and Variety Bunch in her golden years. Elizabeth was also active in Lawrence Township Schools, serving as PTA President for many years. She and her husband, Don, supported the LC Bears & LN Wildcat teams long after their graduation. They cheered for Purdue, Colts. and Pacers, and enjoyed attending many ball games of their grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth and her husband Don enjoyed traveling and camping. They visited every State, Israel and Egypt. Following her retirement as the secretary for AC&S Pipe Insulators in 1989, Elizabeth and Don were annual snowbirds to the St. Petersburg KOA in Florida.

Elizabeth’s family heritage was important to her. She grew up on family land, purchased in 1851, by her 5th Great Grandfather, Clementé Urbain from France. She loved her family and celebrated bonfires, hayrides, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings and funerals, as well as attending annual Family Reunions.

The family wishes to thank the Community Hospice Team.

Visitation will be held Tuesday February 13th from 4pm to 8pm at Castleton United Methodist Church, 7101 Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis. Funeral services will held there Wednesday February 14th at 10am, with visitation from 9am until the service. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Castleton United Methodist Church.
